Senior National Arbiter Seminar Concludes in Mohali

Seminar Overview

Fifty aspiring participants from across India convened at Amity University in Mohali for the Senior National Arbiter Seminar and Examination, which took place over two days from 3 October to 4 October 2026. This event was organized by the Punjab State Chess Association in collaboration with the All India Chess Federation and the Arbiters’ Commission AICF.

Curriculum and Instruction

The two-day program was led by Mr. Swapnil Bansod, an International Arbiter and FIDE Lecturer. He guided the attendees through comprehensive modules covering the Laws of Chess, tiebreaks, tournament rules, arbiter regulations, Swiss pairings, rating regulations, title regulations, and fair play protocols.

Qualification and Certification

  • Candidates who passed the examination with an “A” or “B” grade are eligible to apply for a FIDE National Arbiter License.
  • Those who achieve an “A” or “B” grade qualify for the Senior National Arbiter Title.

Following the examinations, several participants successfully secured the Senior National Arbiter Title and FIDE National Arbiter License. It is important to note that these results remain valid only if the candidates apply for the license within six months of the publication of the results.

Licensing Requirements

To officially serve as arbiters in FIDE-rated tournaments, newly qualified individuals must register with AICF as an Arbiter and obtain their FIDE National Arbiter License. In contrast, all other participants retained eligibility for the NA title and were permitted to officiate all events except FIDE-rated ones.

For those wishing to pursue the NA title, the federation requires a fee of Rs. 3695 to be paid within six months. Detailed instructions for payment and registration can be found via the official AICF portal.
