Career Highlights

Eingorn, born on 23 November 1956 in Odesa, left an indelible mark on the chess world. A mathematics graduate from Odesa State University, he dedicated his life to chess, earning titles of Soviet Master of Sport (1976), International Master (1984), and Grandmaster (1986).

• Bronze medals in USSR Championships (1984, 1987, 1989)
• Tied for second through seventh place in the 1986 USSR Championship
• Winner or shared first in tournaments in Minsk (1983), Bor (1986), Moscow (1986), and tied for first at the Cappelle-la-Grande Open (1986)
• Qualified for the Interzonal tournament in Zagreb (1987), finishing ninth

Contributions Beyond the Board

Beyond his competitive achievements, Eingorn represented Ukraine in three Chess Olympiads, including the 2000 Istanbul Olympiad where Ukraine won bronze. He was part of the team that secured the World Team Chess Championship in Yerevan in 2001.

Shifting to coaching, Eingorn led the Ukrainian women’s national team to a gold medal at the 2006 Chess Olympiad in Turin and was awarded the FIDE Senior Trainer title in 2007. Notably, he authored several influential chess books.
