FIDE World Junior U20 Chess Championships 2026 Set for Greater Caracas, Venezuela

The FIDE World Junior U20 Chess Championships 2026 will take place in Greater Caracas, Venezuela, from 17th to 28th November 2026, the All India Chess Federation (AICF) has announced. The world junior championship, which serves as one of the premier age-group competitions in global chess, will run for twelve days at a yet-to-be-specified venue in the Venezuelan capital region.

Eligibility for Indian Participants

According to the AICF, players who competed in the National Junior (Open and Girls) Chess Championships held in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand in 2025 and finished among the top 50 in the final ranking list are eligible to participate. Additionally, players holding the titles of Grandmaster (GM), Woman Grandmaster (WGM), International Master (IM), and Woman International Master (WIM) are exempted from the National Championship participation requirement. National Junior Champions and medal winners will be treated as official players.

Accommodation and Costs

The AICF has published the accommodation charges for additional players and accompanying persons at the official five-star hotel. The costs are as follows:

• Additional Players: Rs. 2,45,470 for single room accommodation or Rs. 1,83,870 for double sharing.
• Accompanying Persons: Rs. 2,29,790 for single room accommodation or Rs. 1,68,190 for double sharing.

These amounts cover the registration fee, entry fee, accommodation charges, and bank charges only. Additional players and accompanying persons are required to arrange their own visas, flight bookings, tickets, and insurance, as the AICF does not extend support for these expenses. The visa invitation will be shared once it is received from the organizers.

Registration Process

Interested players and accompanying persons must submit a mandatory Google form as part of the registration process. Payments can be made online through the AICF payment portal. All entries are subject to approval by the AICF and the championship organizers. The AICF has urged participants to read the event circular and AICF guidelines carefully before registering.

Key Dates and Deadlines

The deadline for submitting entries is 10th October 2026. No entries will be entertained after this date. Participants are advised to complete all formalities, including the Google form submission and payment, well in advance of the cutoff.
