Senior National Arbiter Seminar Announced for Mohali

The All India Chess Federation (AICF), in collaboration with the Punjab State Chess Association, will organise the Senior National Arbiter Seminar and Examination at Amity University, located near Chandigarh Airport on Airport Road, Mohali, Punjab, on 3 and 4 October 2026. The programme is designed to train and certify aspiring chess arbiters from across the country.

Eligibility and Participation Details

Every affiliated state association may recommend individuals who possess adequate knowledge of chess, demonstrate a genuine interest in arbiter duties, and have completed 17 years of age. The seminar will accommodate a maximum of 40 to 45 participants per batch, ensuring an intimate and focused learning environment.

Interested candidates must approach their respective state association to obtain a registration link. The completed registration form should be submitted before 20 September 2026. Only registration links received through a state association via email will be considered valid.

Fees and Selection Process

The seminar and examination fee is set at ₹4,000 per candidate. Participants are advised not to make payment until they receive official AICF confirmation via email. In cases where the online payment gateway presents difficulties, an alternative bank transfer to the AICF account is available.

After the registration deadline, a consolidated list will be forwarded to the respective state associations for verification. Selected candidates will be informed via email. Fees paid by candidates who are not selected will be refunded at the earliest opportunity.

Course Content and Logistics

The Arbiters’ Manual will be provided at the venue, and both the seminar and examination will be conducted in English. Participants are encouraged in advance to download the FIDE Arbiters’ Manual 2025 and familiarise themselves with key topics including Laws of Chess, Tiebreak Regulations, Rating Regulations, Swiss Pairing Rules, Arbiter Regulations, Anti-Cheating Regulations, Standards of Chess Equipment, Competition Rules, and Basic Title Regulations.

Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel and accommodation. Bookings should only be made after receiving confirmation of selection, which includes both fee payment and state association approval.

For local assistance, candidates may contact the organising coordinator, Mr Dharminder Bansal, at 9815548314, or Mrs Tamanna Kathuria at 8146290095.
