Welcome to ChessBooks.in. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our online store at https://chessbooks.in and your purchase of products from us. By placing an order, you agree to these Terms.

1. About us

ChessBooks.in is an online store selling physical chess books in India. We currently offer physical products only — we do not sell digital, downloadable, or virtual products. Prices are in Indian Rupees (INR).

2. Orders and acceptance

When you place an order, you will receive an order confirmation by email. An order is accepted when we confirm it and, where applicable, receive payment. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order (for example if a product is out of stock, a price is incorrect, or payment fails). We will refund any amount paid for a cancelled order.

3. Pricing, payment, and taxes

All prices are in INR and inclusive of applicable taxes. GST applies as per Indian law (books are exempt from GST; GST applies at 18% on other taxable items where relevant).
Payments are processed securely through Razorpay (UPI, cards, net banking, wallets). Payment is due at the time of order.
We may correct pricing errors; if the correct price is higher than the price shown, we will contact you before processing.

4. Shipping and delivery

We ship physical books across India through our logistics partner (Shipmozo) and courier network.
Delivery timelines depend on your location; you will receive tracking details once your order is dispatched.
Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. Please inspect your parcel at the time of delivery and note any visible damage with the courier.

5. Returns and refunds

Please read our Returns and Refunds Policy on the store for full details. In summary: damaged, defective, or incorrectly shipped books may be returned within the stated period, and eligible refunds are processed back to the original payment method. Because all our products are physical books, returns are subject to condition and courier-returned at your cost unless the error is ours.

6. Product information

We make every effort to show accurate descriptions, images, and prices. Images are illustrative; minor variations (edition, cover, packaging) may occur. If an item differs materially from its description, you may return it under our Returns policy.

7. Intellectual property

All content on the store — text, images, logos, and design — is our property or that of our licensors and may not be copied or reused without permission. The books we sell remain the property of their respective publishers and authors.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the store: no automated scraping that disrupts service, no fraudulent orders, no attempts to gain unauthorised access, and no unlawful use of our services.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control (including courier disruptions).

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at Madurai, Tamil Nadu shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows the current version. Continued use of the store after changes constitutes acceptance.
