FIDE Extends Registration Deadline for 2026 World Junior U20 Rapid and Blitz Championships in Al Ain

Registration Window Extended

The International Chess Federation (FIDE), in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates Chess Federation and Al Ain Chess & Mind Games Club, has announced an extension to the registration deadline for the upcoming World Junior U20 Rapid and Blitz Championships 2026. The event is scheduled to take place in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, from November 1 (arrival day) through November 7 (departure day), 2026.

FIDE member federations are invited to register participants, with no cap on the number of players each federation may enter. The registration portal is now open at https://juniorrapidandblitz2026.fide.com, and inquiries can be directed to juniorrapidblitz@fide.com.

Eligibility and Accommodation Incentives

To qualify for participation, players must have been born on or after January 1, 2006. In addition to general registration, FIDE has outlined specific accommodation benefits for high-performing competitors. Winners of the 2025 World Junior Rapid & Blitz Championships, along with the top ten players on the preliminary entry list across both the open and girls’ sections, will receive complimentary full-board lodging in shared double rooms during the championship period.

Deadline Details

The revised deadline for registration, hotel reservations, and submission of all required payments has been set for October 27, 2026. This extension provides federations additional time to coordinate travel and entries for their junior representatives ahead of the week-long tournament in Al Ain.
